Something #1

I’m sitting on the beach
and looking at the sea.
There’s nothing to be seen
except the ocean swells,
their gentle undulations
underwhelming me
until I’m mesmerized
with sky, horizon, sea.

Columbus was mistaken;
earth is flat. The sea
is horizontally
aligned with that belief.
There’s nothing to be seen
except the ocean swells
until I see a splash
from out of nowhere rouse

the surface of the sea...
I’m sitting on the beach
remembering the splash
although the ocean swells
are mesmerizing me.
There’s nothing left to see
until I see that splash
arouse my memory.

Nice! Here's a cool Robert Creeley-ized variation I made by deleting stuff and mostly ignoring scansion, let the postmodern revolution begin! (or rather, end):

sitting on the beach
looking at the sea.
nothing to be seen
the ocean swells,
undulations
underwhelming me
I’m mesmerized:
sky, horizon, sea.

"earth is flat" The sea
aligned with that.
nothing to see.
ocean swells.
I see a splash
out of nowhere

surface of the sea...
sitting on the beach
remembering the splash
the swells
mesmerizing.

nothing left to see
until that splash
