Autumn Rain Delay

Conventional wisdom has it that this Friday night rain-out helps the Sox. Not only does it kill the Yankees momentum, but it gives Schilling that extra day to maybe pitch Game 5. But it also rests both bullpens, and maybe allow Mussina to pitch in an earlier game. Who knows?
ALCS 3 Rained Out

Rain and wind has stripped the screen
of color. Leaves have left the set.
A weatherman is on the air
and screaming out an epithet
as baseball god’s postpone the night—
despite TV being watertight.
All I know is we missed Friday night baseball. Damn.

Update: see my complete Red Sox ALCS/World Series chapblog here.

At least it gave me something in common with my father-in-law. We both bitched about this on the phone today. :)

Nice poem.
