Dolphin Sky

BC6. Where do we find the chief truths taught by Jesus Christ through the Catholic Church?

Translating fish
outside of water carries
an air
of power sun and industry
like nothing other
than the sky incarnate,
mother of pearl and
Moby Dick our pope
is sick and tired
of maritime defense:
this trout
is born of dolphin energy;
its gills are filled
with immortality.

I like the whale/trout/dolphin interaction.

Have been discussing the Bible in a class lately and it is interesting to me that never in the Old Testament does it specifically state that the creature that swallowed Jonah was a whale, though over time, of course, it would come to be a whale.

It always struck me as important that the whale (and the dolphin) is a mammal, like us. That Jonah should be swallowed and disgorged by a mammal. Of course this is a later embellishment. Not that the authors of the Bible knew from mammals anyway!

So who over time translated it to a whale. And why I wonder. That Catholic inability to live with fish? Everything needs to be mammal like them I guess.
