After Pulpit Rock at Rye

Dreaming Canto 29
Routine

Returning from the sea,
I fear the land is something
of an afterthought,

superfluous, dependent
on its visible
extent and boundaries,

but there’s no substitute
I can identify.
The corn is growing high.

~Son Rivers 2006

"I was not afraid in the desert that night. But when I recovered, I felt fear because nothing in my story was important any longer and I still had to function in the world." ~Don Miguel Ruiz
