In Boynton Canyon, vortex
by Sedona, sky-
magnetic red rock spires
rising on each wall
emitting light scintilla
arcing over slickrock,
sage, and junipers
with spirit-altering
nativity, they built
a luxury resort
and christened it Enchantment.
Barricaded by
a sentry guardhouse turning
uninvited traffic
from its sanctuary,
and a string of barbed wire
bordering a trail
that skirts the southern wall,
it sits like some adobe
prison, housing damned
big misconceptions of
the essence of enchantment.
