Early Spring Walk in Woods
Walking in early spring, beneath a softly-clouded sky, the air touched one minute by light showers, and the next warm sun. The snow has all melted but for lone patches where the sun couldn't reach. The sharp green sprouts of skunk cabbage are finally pushing through the damp ground. Moss is bright green. The ash trees still cling to their dry yellowed leaves. And so, the woods feel alive with spirits. This is a transitional time, a time when you can touch the dead and feel them coming to life again. The veil is opened for this short stretch and I've walked in.

Hi Greg. As is your signature, you keep a tight rhythm with your sentences, and in this bit of prose it really, really works.
There are lots of good images, but for me the "lone patches [of snow] where the sun couldn't reach" really conjured a vivid mental picture.
